Bakery chain Crumbs has closed all its 48 stores located in 10 states, and it broke the news with a phone call to employees just hours before the closings.

The company had already recently closed some of its stores, and its statement said that they are 'immediately attending to the dislocation of its devoted employees...'

Crumbs opened in 2003, and at the end of 2013, it listed 165 full-time employees and about 655 part-time hourly employees in its stores.

The chain posted a loss of $18.2 million last year, which followed a loss of $10.3 million in 2012.
