Three college students in New York recently purchased a couch for $20 -- and ended up finding several cash-stuffed envelopes inside that all together totaled more than $40,000. The trio admits that they considered splitting the cash and using it to pay off student loans and travel the world. However, after finding a name written on one of the envelopes, they decided to hunt down the couch's original owner. The elderly widow -- who declined to be named -- revealed that her kids had dropped off her couch at the Salvation Army and not realized her life savings were in it. As a thank you, she gave each of the students $1,000.
