A hotel chain plans to launch the service of a new robot butler later on this month to be on-call for its guests all day and night.
The Starwood Hotels' Aloft brand are calling the machines “Botlrs” which is short for robotic butler, and its first metal employee is named A.L.O. (pronounced "el-oh").
The robot stands just under 3 feet tall, and it can do everything from bringing guests toothpaste and more towels to calling the elevator up for them via Wi-Fi.
Starwood says these robots are not intended to replace any employees, but will instead help free them up from small tasks and give them more time to deal with other duties.
