The internet age keeps making it more and more possible for people to break free of the 9-5 routine.

Devin Fidler of the Institute for the Future explains how specific technologies are helping people move into freelance work. Saying, “We’re kind of beginning a renaissance in freelancing in a lot of ways. There are a series of online work platforms that are allowing people around the whole world to connect with each other.  The two biggest platforms that are oDesk and Elance, but there’s a whole series of them.”

Basically these sites funnel down any freelancer you’re looking for in one place, thus making the freelancers more visible to the masses.  This causes it to be much easier for people and businesses to find freelance outsourcing.  A freelance social network if you will.
